چکیده

At Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, the known intermediate steps in the aromatization, catalyxed by human placental microsomes, of 4-androstene-3, 17-dione to estrone were evaluated. Oxygen and carbon monoxide atmospheres were used to expose the properties of the participating oxidases. The results were judged to be evidence for the existence of 3 mixed function oxidases active in steroid aromatization. One of the oxidases may be a form of cytochrome P-450. The proposed microsomal components must be physically fractionated for validation of their independent existences.

Coadsorption of Dioxygen and Carbon Monoxide on a Mg(100) Surface

The activation of carbon monoxide by oxygen on Mg(100) surface has been investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Carbon monoxide is only weakly adsorbed (dispersion-type forces) on a magnesium surface. The XPS result has shown that the dissociation of carbon monoxide leading to the formation of a metastable surface carbonate species occurs through the participation of an oxyg...

The involvement of human placental microsomal cytochrome P-450 in aromatization.

The aromatization of androstenedione is inhibited in the presence of aminoglutethimide, diethylaminoethyl-2,2-diphenyl valerate HCl (SKF 525-A), and 1W3 M KCN, but not carbon monoxide or metyrapone. The role of cytochrome P-450 in this reaction could not, therefore, be unequivocally established by inhibition studies. However, it was determined that steroid binding to placental microsomal cytoch...

EFFECTS OF HYPOXIC HYPOXIA AND CARBON MONOXIDE-INDUCED HYPOXIA ON THE CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM AND REGIONAL BLOOD FLOW OF THE ANESTHETIZED CAT

The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential responses of the cardiovascular system and regional blood flow to hypoxic hypoxia (BB) and to carbon monoxide (CO)-induced hypoxia (COH). Ten anesthetized cats were studied under two nonnoxic (control: CONT) and two hypoxic conditions. Four types of radioactive micro spheres were used to measure regional blood flow during CONT an...

The Role of Aldehydes as Degenerate Branching Intermediate in the Oxidation of Hydrocarbons

The thermal oxidation of propane in the temperature range 350-425oC was studied in order to elucidate the role of higher aldehydes as degenerate branching intermediates in the oxidation of hydrocarbons. In the slow combustion of propane, the high yield of propylene and methanol as the primary products, the formation of hydrogen peroxide, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, formaldehyde and steam a...

Effects of Temperature and Particle Size Distribution on Barite Reduction by Carbon monoxide Gas

In this research, a mineral barite powder was reduced by carbon monoxide gas and the effects of reduction time and temperature was investigated as well as barite particle size. Results showed that the best result would be feasible when the barite particle sizes are between (-70 +100) in mesh scale. The barite reduction could reach the maximum level (98%) after reduction by carbon monoxide at 85...
